ABOUT

We are Bryson and Kirsten (Katie/KD), the co-creators of Local Kine Tingz.

Our life together has been one journey after the other. We met while on vacation, began a long-distance relationship, moved in together, and got married a few years after. Since teaming up, we have written several blogs and vlogs, created an LLC, self-published a poetry book,  got a puppy, bought our first home, and (Kirsten) even hopped on as a co-host and producer on an up-and-coming podcast.

We love having the opportunity to share our journeys and passions with others and we hope that our life lessons (both triumphs and losses) will help to inspire you.

Mahalo nunui / Maraming Salamat.

THE STORY

Our business was birthed in the midst of the pandemic right after the miscarriage of our child. We were extremely devastated and we both tried to pick up the pieces by picking up hobbies. A month later, we finally began hand pouring the first ever Upcycled Hawaiian Sun Soy Wax Candles. We were hit with a stroke of luck when a small business owner saw our product and decided to order in bulk. A week after, we made our debut at her shop in Kaimuki and now our candles are being sold in boutiques, plant shops, restaurants and cafe on all the main islands! Since then we've grown and have poured our energies into making handmade and artisanal crafts such as our soy wax candles, Musoapbi™, shower steamers and bathbombs.

Although the pain of losing our child will never truly go away, we have made peace with the loss and find joy in offering a piece of our hearts. During one the darkest moments of our relationship came light. And that light came from making our candles.

WELCOME

Our business is proudly Hawaiian and Filipino owned. Our mission is to spread aloha with our self-care creations. So whether you've moved off of the islands and want a little piece of home wherever you are, or if you've just fallen in love with the culture and vibes of Hawai'i—we are here to accommodate you. We believe in cultivating love and respect for the land; by nurturing it, it can give back all we need to sustain life. Every item we make is handcrafted right here on the island of O'ahu. And because we aim to treat every patron as part of our 'ohana/pamilya, each project is made-to-order in small batches to ensure it is perfect just for you.

Surfrider Foundation

Dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network.

Hawai’i Land Trust

To protect and steward the lands that sustain Hawaiʻi, and to perpetuate Hawaiian values by connecting people with ʻāina.

 Resolve: the National Infertility Association

The National Infertility Association, established in 1974, is dedicated to ensuring that all people challenged in their family building journey reach resolution through being empowered by knowledge, supported by community, united by advocacy, and inspired to act.

We are so humbled by the amount of love and support from all our customers, small/big business friends, and our family. Each and every one of you has made us, Local Kine Tingz, flourish into what it is today.
